Sreesree Thakur

A Life Devoted to Humanity

শ্রীশ্রীঠাকুর অনুকূলচন্দ্র চক্রবর্তী (১৮৮৮–১৯৬৯)

Sreesree Thakur Anukulchandra was born on 14 September 1888 in Himaitpur, a village on the banks of the Padma in Pabna district. From childhood he was known for compassion, an unbending love of truth and a remarkable devotion to his mother, Manomohini Devi.

He studied medicine in Calcutta and returned to serve the sick of his village, refusing fees from the poor. Around him gathered seekers of every faith and station, and from that gathering the Satsang fellowship was born in Himaitpur.

His message was disarmingly simple: to live and grow — “বাঁচা-বাড়া” — and to help every being do the same. He taught that all religions point to one truth, and that service to humanity is service to the Divine.

  • Born in Himaitpur, Pabna — 30 Bhadra 1295 (BS)
  • Founded the Satsang fellowship at Himaitpur
  • Author of Satyanusaran, Punyapunthi, Anushruti & more
  • Left his body on 27 January 1969 at Deoghar
মানুষের সেবাই ভগবানের সেবা।
Service to humanity is service to God.
